I struggle with dumbbell step ups. I’m wobbly and the weight distribution just isn’t great for balancing and I tend to have to focus more on not falling then trying to lift heavy with proper form.
Enter Cable Step Ups! Game flipping changer! I love how the weight distributes so evenly and the burn 🔥 is almost instant!
So here’s a quick tutorial for doing step ups using a cable!
Setup: Attach the cable to a low pulley on a cable machine and adjust the weight according to your strength level. Stand facing the machine with the cable on your working side.
Positioning: Place one foot on the bench or platform, ensuring that your whole foot is secure so you really press up from your heel. The other foot will hang down freely.
Hip Hinge: Hinge forward at your hips while keeping your back straight. This means your upper body leans slightly forward from the hip joint, maintaining a neutral spine.
Knee Alignment: As you start the step up, focus on keeping your knee directly over your ankle. Avoid letting your knee cave inwards. This helps maintain stability and prevents strain on the knee joint.
Step Down: Slowly lower your free foot back down, reaching it back behind you and not straight down. Keep your knee stays aligned over your ankle. Control the movement to avoid any jerky motions. Barley touch the ground behind you before driving up through your heel.
Squeeze your glute all the way to the top!
I want to know if you try these and if you felt the insane difference from doing step DOWNS on a cable!
Drop a 🔥 if you’re going to try it!
