Longer exposure vs. image denoising, or: what actually happens during denoising
I constantly encounter statements like, "By denoising astrophotos, I can save exposure time" or "With denoising, I can get so much more out of my images." These beliefs have been reinforced, especially by the use of AI tools like NoiseXTerminator, GraXpert, and DeepSNR. In this video, I'll show you why longer exposure times and denoising images are not the same thing. I'll explain what actually happens during denoising and give you my recommendations at the end on how you can truly improve your astrophotos.
