I attended the ceremony called Muharram mourning and Ashura mourning, where they commemorate the martyrdom of Hussein and his companions. Every year, on the 10th of Muharram, they commemorate the people martyred in Karbala. In our country, it is held in regions where people of Azerbaijani origin are concentrated, especially in Kars, Iğdır and Ağrı. Since the Shiites feel this day more intensely, when important and sad events took place for both the Ahl al-Bayt and the Sunni, these ceremonies are held in large programs in countries such as Iraq, Iran and Azerbaijan, especially in countries with a large Shia population. In our country, especially Halkalı Muharrem mournings, Iğdır Muharrem mournings and Kars Muharrem mournings are crowded. In these regions, our people of Azerbaijani origin experience and keep alive the mourning of Ashura with a very deep feeling, not only on the 10th of Muharram, but also from the first of Muharram to the 10th of Muharram, and then until Arbaeen, which is 40 days later.
I was there, completely impartial, curious, in the world he lives in, and especially in his country, and in the region to understand and watch what the people with whom he speaks the same language feel and experience.
No matter what belief or way of life, respect is endless as long as it does not invade someone else's freedom and disrespect them. What the people living here did did not bother me, and he welcomed me very nicely, explained the meaning of the things done here, and broke my prejudices.
