In this online I event, learn about the mothers of nuclear energy without whom the Manhattan Project could not be possible. The scientists covered are:
Marie Curie who gave the name radioactivity to the finding that some atoms create their own energy.
Lise Meitner who co-discovered nuclear fission, the splitting of the atom, along with Otto Hahn, though she did not share in Hahn's Nobel Prize.
Irene Joliot-Curie and her husband Frederic Jolie who discovered that radioactivity can be artificially induced.
