Back in 2020 in the midst of lockdown, seeing a photo of the GMK Striker for the first time was the catalyst for me to fall into the rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards. I saw this keyset and I was immediately in love with its color, style, and simplicity. I immediately looked up what it is and how to get it. That was when I learned group buy was over and it was only produced in “small” quantities. That is the story if how the GMK striker became my white whale, a forever reminder that I came into this hobby too late. A year later, Zambumon (designer of the Striker) announced that he will be doing a second round of group buy. I knew I couldn’t miss this chance. Another year later, it finally came and I knew this deserves to be on a special custom build. I chose the TOFU 65 2.0 because like the GMK Striker 2, it also came for a second wave. Back then the Tofu was known as the “beginner” custom you can get your hands on. So of course I also had to cop that for nostalgia’s sake.
