Phuket Patong Beach New Year 2015. Same procedure as every year.
No stages with DJs at the beach this year due to the martial law. Still - massive crowd. For my opinion too many people on the Bangla Rd.
We prefered to get out of the mass and took a few beers in a bar. Most of the people were not aware of the danger. Later I read in the news, that 36 people died and many were injured in a stampede at New Years Eve.
Good thing that Patong was lucky and nothing like this happened.
Other than that, everything was like every year.
I noticed that people used a lot of streamer spray. Thousands of empty cans at the roadside. Good business for the vendors, but a mess for the environment. But who cares? Nobody. It's party time.
Good thing - all people were in a good mood. No agressive idiots. Just a huge party. If you like to celebrate in silence and devotion it is surely not your place.
The firework was nice and it started 12 o'clock thai time. That means 5 min. before and 5 min. after. Everybody starts when he thinks it's time. Why not? It's Thailand. Sky lanterns are forbidden in Phuket but nobody cared. Nice picture, by the way. Thousands of lanters up in the sky.
Bangla Road is the a weird place. Tourists of all nations strolling down the street, music from every single bar, trying to attract people, girls dancing and shaking butts in bikinis, steet vendors selling all kinds of useless stuff. One thing is very true. There is life on this street.
