Lasers: what is a photon?
Photons are the fundamental particles of light and all other forms of electromagnetic radiation. They are unique in that they have zero mass, carry energy and momentum, and always move at the speed of light in a vacuum. Photons exhibit both wave-like and particle-like properties, a dual nature described by quantum mechanics.
