"Operation Thunderbolt" is an official video by Israeli premier heavy metal band DESERT. Taken from "Fortune Favors The Brave" released on 30.07.2019 via Irond Records.

The song is dedicated to the most daring yet the most successful rescue operation in history known as Operation Thunderbolt took place on 04/07/1976. Terrorists hijacked an Air France plane with mostly Israeli nationals on board. The terrorists landed the aircraft at Entebbe Airport, with support of Uganda's government, including the Head of State Idi Amin, who was ironically famous for admiring Israeli military courage and wore Israeli paratroopers winged badges.
Israel wouldn't tolerate targeting innocent civilians. A daredevil operation was hastily put together. Days later, a stealth Hercules squadron performed battle landing on Entebe's tarmac, discharging elite commando - the Unit. Disguised as Uganda's President Cortege, they stormed in, killing all terrorists on the spot, while fighting the Uganda military and destroying all Uganda Air Force jets in the airport.
The old Entebbe airport was abandoned with most buildings demolished, and the remaining ones still marked with Israeli bullet holes.
The Unit, secret and unspoken of, later revealed to be the IDF Intelligence Directorate reconnaissance brigade, the Sayeret Matkal.
