Bunny Hat
Measure the circumference of your head and multiply by the stitch count in 1 cm. I'm knitting on a 36 cm headband, with 0.7 stitches per 1 cm. I need to cast on 25 stitches.
When dividing the stitches into the earflaps, front, and back of the hat, divide the total number of stitches by 5. One for the earflaps, one for the back, one for the second earflaps, and two for the front.
Knit the earflaps (chain stitch), knit 3 stitches from the first stitch, then increase as many stitches as needed. I have 5 stitches per earflaps.
Knit the stitches for the first earflaps, cast on the stitches for the back of the head, and knit the stitches for the second earflaps. Knit a purl and a knit row to increase the height of the back (for a better fit).
Pick up the stitches for the front part of the hat, close the knitting in the round. Knit in the round to the desired height until you begin decreasing at the crown.
Form the decreases as follows: 1 knit, 2 together - every other row.
Ear loops: Pick up 3 stitches, form increases before and after the edge loops until you reach 9 stitches on the needles. Knit 20 rows in stockinette stitch. Decrease the stitches after and before the edge loop. Knit 3 rows in stockinette stitch. Another row of decreases, a purl row. And another row with three stitch decreases in the middle. In the next row, close off all stitches. Knit the second ear loop in the same way.
