I'm done (probably)
I've reached a point of no return with this story and I just can't keep covering it the way that I have in the past. I've covered the Natalia Grace Barnett, (Ukrainian girl with dwarfism claimed to be an adult sociopath) for nearly the past three years and I think it's time to move on. I think the people involved with the story want to move on too. It's time.
Kristine and Michael Barnett claimed that the girl they were told was 6 years old turned out to be an adult. They went to the courts and had her legal age changed, where they then set her up with state services. Later they moved to Canada to be with their son while he attended college. The state claims that the Barnett's abandoned a girl who really was a child and brought them up on charges of neglect of a dependent. Some of those charges were dropped and some of them remain.
The situation is such that we've seen every argument the state has to offer, and we've seen the Barnett's side of the case. We all went into this thinking that some definitive evidence would surface as a part of these court cases and it simply has not. I don't think that we will ever really know the truth. However, it's time to let this case be and move on with our lives.
