Preveli beach Crete
Preveli Forest is roughly 10 kilometers east of Plakias and 35 kilometers south of Rethymno. At the end of the massive Kourtaliotis gorge, where the Megalos Potamos runs, is the beach of Prevelis, also referred to as Lake Prevelis or Phoenix.
The sea water is very cool due to the river at the river's mouth, where a sandy beach is built with pebbles and sand. Because it is enclosed and has no umbrellas, the beach is not well-maintained.
