Samaria Gorge Crete
The Samaria gorge, located in the Chania prefecture, is one of Greece's most magnificent gorges and the longest in Europe (total length: 16 km).
Over 450 species of plant and animal, including 70 that are native to Crete, are protected by the national park designation, which includes Samaria Gorge, the surrounding mountains, and a number of minor gorges that branch off from it.
