Fishing off of a SUP is definitely a fun way to catch fish, but it can be semi-limited in what it has to offer. That being said, the inflatable watercraft market is starting to advance very quickly, and I am lucky enough to have recently received a Glide Mako with the Pedal Drive attachment to test out.
Glide sent me the pre-production model, which I unfortunately couldn't get entirely figured out (the rudder control portion was having issues). That being said, I decided to try the pedal drive with no rudder and just control the steering with my paddle. Honestly, I was totally impressed, and while this may sound odd, I actually don't know if I really even want the rudder anyway. One of the big values which I feel paddle board fishing offers is the simplicity. That is why I feel there is a fine balance between fancy advancements and practical rigging. My goal would be to keep things very simple and easy to rig, while also giving myself a chance to catch fish and cover some water.

I am going to continue to experiment with this paddle board, and I will be sure to bring you along the way as I do. I am not sure exactly how I will rig this boat in the future, but one thing is for sure, the inflatable watercraft market is only going to become more popular. Let me know what questions/feedback you may have!
