🔍 Part 37: Rotating Darts
To create a new dart placement, select the outline of your pattern using the direct selection tool. Using the scissor tool, cut the pattern at the dart point and the location of the new dart.
Select one of the newly cut panels with the direct selection tool, then click path finder and unite.
Do the same thing for the remaining newly cut panel.
Next, select the one of the panels click the rotation tool and then click the dart point, to define the point of rotation.
Next, drag the panel to rotate and close the existing dart and open the new one.
Finally, select outline of all the panels with the direct selection tool and click pathfinder unite to complete the pattern.
If your pattern does not unite, add an anchor point to one side of the dart, drag it into the other panel and try uniting once more. Unite only works when the patterns are perfectly touching or overlapping.
