🔍 Part 38: Adding a Dart Cap
With the line tool, trace a guideline from one end of the dart opening to the other and another from the centre of the dart to the middle of the previous guideline.
Hit CTRL A to select the entire pattern and click CTRL 2 to lock the pattern.
Next, using the pen tool, create a dart template by tracing the upper quadrant of the dart.
Select the dart template with the select tool. Then click the rotate tool. Mark the dart point as the point of rotation and drag the dart template to close the dart.
Using the direct selection tool, click and drag the lower point of the dart template to meet the side seam. Make sure it follows its existing path.
Click the dart template with the selection tool then click the rotation tool and mark the dart point once more as the point of rotation. Drag the dart template to open position.
Add a point to the dart template and drag it to meet the opposite side of the dart opening. This will create the dart hat.
Finally, select the pattern outline and the dart template with the direct selection tool and click pathfinder, Unite.
Redraw the legs of the dart using the line tool.
