In this video you can see how I use the CNC for something like the Nexus fretboard, halfway down you'll see I mix it up with up with some ideas I got along the way. I hope it fits "progressive" as that's what the Nexus is all about, trying to control over nature's randomness... Much like guitar(music) itself: sound controlled by human.
Although I made this design a few years back, it never ended up on a guitar and I never recorded its process.
I own my CNC for 5 years now and for a long time I felt that I needed to apologize for using one. Mostly against people that claim that it's so easy, it's cheating. I guess they're unaware about the learning curve and that pretty much any mistake is a human one. I'm pretty sure writers don't get blamed printing out their books using printers ("I won't read it because it's not handwritten!"). They have to come up with a story and make sure there are no spelling errors while typing. In the end the fact that it's printed doesn't hold up against a good book (or bad written story with a lot of typos...)
