In this video, we show you how to adjust the tape speed for the FABcassette - Open Source Portable Cassette Tape Player Kit.
We will play the included 1kHz (1000Hz) test cassette. The frequency of the test cassette's reference signal is divided by 1000 using the circuit on the main board of the FABcassette. This pulse signal makes an LED blink. The speed of the LED blinking changes with the motor speed.
By adjusting the motor speed so that the LED blinks exactly once per second, you can set the test cassette to play the 1kHz audio at the correct pitch.
