Three Distinct Dialect Areas in America
Certain founding fathers like Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Paine actually wanted America to have its own accent, and tried to push this intentionally. They wanted their own government, and thought that they should have their own language to go along with it to further distinguish them from the hated British.
