2024 Ford Explorer EV ⚡ This Is The Future Of Ford
The 2024 Ford Explorer EV has been revealed as the first all-electric vehicle to come from Ford and Volkswagen’s partnership.
Ford wants you to rethink what that Blue Oval badge means, in Europe at least. No more small hatchbacks like the Fiesta and the Focus. The plan is to build fewer cars, sell them at bigger profits, and double down on what Ford thinks sets it apart. Chiefly, being American.
Ford’s press info was disappointingly light on technical detail and didn’t outline which of the Volkswagen powertrain and battery, but we figure it will have similarly sized battery packs as the Volkswagen ID.4.
The Explorer range will start with a 168 hp model powered by a single motor and 52 kWh battery that gives 218 miles (351 km) of range, but can only charge at 130 kW.
Other options include a 228 hp single motor mated to a 77 kWh battery that charges at 170 kW and can take the Explorer 335 miles (539 km), while the fastest model is a dual-motor AWD version rated at 335 hp with a range of 305 miles (491 km).
However, Ford has disclosed that the new Explorer EV can fast charge. It can do a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 25 minutes.
Ford says Explorer customers will have access to more than 450,000 chargers across Europe this year and 500,000 by 2024, including more than 2,100 DC fast charging stations already installed at more than 450 locations by the Ionity consortium, of which Ford is a founding member.
Orders open later this year in European markets for two trim levels – Select and Premium – with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrains.

Ford will produce the Explorer in Cologne, Germany, and it's slated only for Europe at this point. Pricing starts at the equivalent of $48,300 (€45,000) and Ford is taking reservations now.
We doubt we'll see this model come to the U.S., but it could give us an idea of how the Blue Oval's future electric SUV models will look.
