2024 Ferrari Roma Spider 👌 First front-engine soft-top droptop since 1969
Though soft-top front-engined convertibles once accounted for a decent chunk of Ferrari’s overall vehicle production, the Italian firm hasn’t produced one of these models for more than half a century — with the Maranello marque’s last car of this configuration being the Ferrari 365 GTS 4 Daytona.
Ferrari says the Roma Spider’s electronically-operated soft-top can retract in 13.5 seconds while driving at up to 37 mph (60 km/h).
Under the hood, Aside from the changes to its roof, the Roma Spider is virtually identical to the coupe it is based on, retaining the same 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8, developing up to 621 hp (456 kW) and 560 pound-foot (760 Nm) which is delivered to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Despite the Roma Spider tipping the scales at 1556kg – 84kg more than the Roma coupe – Ferrari claims it can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds, identical to the fixed-roof model, with a top speed of more than 320 km/h.
The 2024 Ferrari Roma Spider is expected to roll into dealerships before the end of the year, and while pricing has yet to be revealed, we anticipate a starting MSRP of around $275,000 — based on the roughly $250,000 base price of the Roma Coupe.
