DIY Steadicam gimbal design. March 2009. Improvement on previous design. Now using a TRAXXAS universal joint and a close tolerance skateboard ball bearing. http://www.diycamera.com
I modified the u-joint a little by paring back the edges of the yokes. This allows a wider angle of operation. I tried a lighter oil in the bearing, but although it will spin more freely on its own, the original light grease is a better lubricant when under load..
