An important part of making 18th Century clothing is making the foundation garments to go underneath. Without the proper foundations, the final silhouette doesn't look quite right.
An important part of historical clothing is the skirt supports. Skirt supports include items like panniers, hoop skirts, bum pads, bustles, and of course, bum rolls.
I am in the process of making a few different 18th Century ensembles, so I wanted to create a bum roll so I had a "multipurpose" skirt support. This is the first time I've drafted and created a pattern myself; granted, the bum roll isn't a difficult pattern.
Hang out with me while I make my first 18th Century Bumroll.
