PYO Performance Ensemble musicians worked with Joe Hamm for 8 consecutive weeks to write student-initiated music compositions, influenced by places and cultures throughout the world.
Music composition is a critical component of a well rounded music education experience, and empowers students with the opportunity to make choices, solve problems, and let curiosity and experimentation guide their learning. The collective music composition experience and process presents unique challenges and teaches many lessons in democratic and constructive collaboration, amidst the musical and technical necessities of writing and performing music.
