The psychological view of God is different to the common understanding of God. The psychological perspective of God might be familiar to you if you have encountered Carl Jung’s psychology of religion. The psychological perspective of God is powerful because it provides a new way to not only conceptualise God, but to understand and experience God as a completely natural phenomenon. Of course, there will always be debate around any topic related to God, especially around the existence of God. This is where taking a psychological viewpoint of God can help us. As the psychological view of God can be held by both atheists and believers – and anyone in-between. There may be various philosophical assumptions that come with the psychological view of God but I’ll save that for a later time. I simply would like to present to you the psychological perspective of God so that it can be understood more clearly and so that you can consider if it is of value to you.
