Traveling a lot for my sisters graduation, showing my foreign friends all around my hometown, Jackson Hole, WY, and finishing up a lot of my own coursework I have. Studying pondscum while I'm at it.
Pondscum Analysis
Tried Iodoform test: Put iodine and NaOH in container with pond scum and water. Gentle heat applied. If there were alcohols or acetaldehyde, we would’ve seen a yellow precipitate of iodoform. None was found.

2. Phosphorous #3 test. Dropped a phosphorous reagent #3 tablet in to the pondscum. If there was any phosphorous in the pondscum, the solution would have turned blue, but it didn’t. This is a good sign, as it shows that pondscum is probably not just phospholipids.
