The circulation of images between Japan and Europe is the topic of a film produced by the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context". Prof. Melanie Trede analyses the frames and framings of images focusing on Japanese works travelling to Europe and vice versa. She uses the example of a private collector's handscroll dating back to the fourteenth century. Melanie Trede is professor for the histories of Japanese art in Heidelberg.
