How good is Bronny James? Will Bronny be drafted?
After missing 5 months due to cardiac arrest
Bronny has finally hit the floor
And is putting up a monstrous
6 2 and 2 on 37% from the field
All jokes aside
Bronny has had the most expectations put on him out of anyone in this drafte class
Yes he is not playing like a break out star
But the kid is 19 and coming off of almost 6 months off
Half a year of no basketball
After having a heart attack
And is now playing on a minutes restriction
That’s a scary thing.
It could just be rust from not playing for so long
He averaged 3x those points in highschool on much better efficiency
Or it could be a mental thing
How hard would you push yourself after having a heart attack?
But at the end of the day the NBA is not a charity
It’s all about how good are you right now
So is Bronny an NBA talent?
Even though his ppg and shooting splits have taken a dip this freshman season
Bronny has been a knock down 3pt shooter his whole HS basketball career
He went 5-8 at the mcdonalds all american game
And his jumper looks pure
Much better than his fathers
He’s also an elite defender.
If you watched any of his highchool or college games
You can see him not only getting steals and block
But he has active hands
He causes a number of deflections and has an easy time staying infront of the offensive player and contesting without fouling.
He’s a good decision maker as well.
Just like his dad he will always make the right play or extra pass.
He doesn’t turn the ball over a ton but i’m not high on running an NBA offense through him quite yet.
With these qualities in mind
The first NBA comps that come to mind are
Alex Caruso, mike conley, Malcolm Brogdon
Solid smaller guards since bronny is around 6’4
Who can shoot the 3 well, defend, and are winners.
All those guys I named are among the leagues best role players.
They all averaged similar stats in college to bronnys 6 and 2
But Caruso and Brogdon were both 4 year guys not one and done.
And I just don’t believe any NBA team would want to draft the ALex Caruso of College basketball as a one and done
Maybe a late second round pick with the boost of Lebron being his dad
And Lebron expressing he will go where ever Bronny gets drafted
Which I feel at this point in Bronny’s career would be terrible.
We all Know Lebron is not going to Detroit, Washington, Or charlotte.
More than likely Bronny will be represented by klutch going into the draft
And Rich paul will dictate where bronny goes by telling teams to not draft him.
Are young to tell 29 teams no to get him on the lakers or wherever bron wants to go?
Then what happens in a year or 2 years after Lebron retires?
Look at all the lottery picks that have are in the g league just this season.
2nd round picks rarely get NBA minutes to develop early on.
Getting Drafted into the NBA is something I believe Bronny can do even without Lebron
But getting NBA minutes as a true rookie from a 2nd round pick?
Absolutely no way that’s happening without Lebron.
And that’s going to stunt Bronny’s development
He needs to be in the g league to develope more if he’s a one and done
If he doesn’t develop into a true starter or bench producer in that time with his father it’s going to be hard for him.
What teams would want to take a chance on you and give you a job after you told them Ablsolutely do not draft me
That’s a messy situation.
So can Bronny get drafted this year?
Yes if Lebron pushes for it
Should he be drafted?
No.
Hes’s not ready
But I do believe as a multi year college guy he can come into the league as a dog who can make a real impact
