I never thought I’d see Klay Thompson not in a Warriors jersey. After winning 4 championships and being a key part of the Splash Bros, it looks like the dynasty is over. The Warriors have no interest in extending Klay’s contract, and at 34, he’s looking for a 3-4 year deal.
This season, Klay struggled with 17 points per game on 43% shooting—the lowest since his sophomore year. His defense has declined, and injuries have taken a toll. While it’s tough for NBA fans to see the breakup of Steph, Klay, and Draymond, change is necessary for the Warriors to compete.
There were talks of the Orlando Magic being interested in Klay, but they, like the Warriors, prefer a shorter, cheaper deal. No other teams are in talks right now, but that could change.
In my opinion, Klay should accept a team-friendly 2-year contract. He’s made over $300 million in his career. Staying with the Warriors or joining a contender on a short deal makes sense. What do you think? Is Klay staying a Warrior? Which team should he join? Leave a comment and subscribe for more!
