Games with level editors have had a profound impact on me since I was in elementary school. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 introduced me to the incredible feeling of watching friends enjoy something I'd created, Halo 3 shaped my imagination and gave me the tools to make anything my mind could conjure up, and Minecraft brought all of my friends together to collectively shape worlds and have a blast while doing it. Level editing tools and hubs for community-created content are some of the best gifts a game developer can give someone, in this video I try to give you a brief history about player-created content, and explain why it was, and is, so incredibly important.
