In our latest Ask Me Anything experience curated specially for Rocket Academy’s Coding Bootcamp students and alumni, we hosted Robert Kolsek, who is not only a software engineer at Glints; he is also Rocket Academy’s coding bootcamp section leader. As section leader, Robert plays an instrumental role in providing academic instruction to Rocket’s Coding Bootcamp students, reinforcing learning throughout their coding bootcamp journey to encourage their academic growth.
The hour-long session was focused on crucial soft skills for software engineers, covering areas like communications, as well as other skill-related challenges Robert has faced to date in his career as a software engineer. Robert’s sharing was especially poignant because, like many of Rocket’s coding bootcamp students, he is a career switcher himself, pivoting from being a language teacher to the software engineer he is today.
It was a truly enjoyable session, with Robert bringing his points to life by complementing the session content with his own personal experiences to better illustrate the steps he took to overcome specific challenges. Robert also shared some perspectives on certain cultural values at Glints that have helped him succeed in his professional journey as a fullstack software engineer.
