The Laurel & Marcos Connection
The recent appointment of Francisco T. Laurel, Jr. as the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture by President Marcos is but another addition to the long and deep history of the Laurel and Marcos families. Beginning in 1940, the then young Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. was acquitted by Associate Justice Jose P. Laurel from his earlier conviction of the crime of killing Congressman-elect Julio Nalubdasan.
