What is character design? Character design is the process of bringing characters to life by visualizing and designing key details, such as body shape, facial expressions, and physical poses that all help to communicate a character's personality. In 3d animation, the character is designed by an artist and then digitally sculpted by a modeler. A rigging artist then builds a character rig, which dictates how the character will move. From their animators will compose the character's movements resulting in 3d character animation.
