Hi, I'm Dr Daneshrad from the Daneshrad Clinic in Santa Monica, California and today we're gonna talk about balloon sinus dilation. Balloon sinus dilation is a way to treat the sinuses without actually performing surgery. There's no cutting, patients can be awake, it's basically an in-office procedure that can be done in less than half an hour. The biggest difference between the recovery of balloon sinus dilation and traditional sinus surgery is a few more days of discharge from the nose as well as some extra pain associated with the traditional sinus surgery. I'd say in general, balloon sinus dilation has about half the recovery time of traditional sinus surgery. Whether it's traditional sinus surgery or balloon sinus dilation all of my patients are back to having a normal day to day life seven days after the procedure. Now, not all patients are candidates for balloon sinus dilation, but when possible it certainly makes patients a lot more comfortable a lot faster.
