At ACT Expo 2024, Kenworth showcased their SuperTruck 2, a futuristic and highly efficient concept vehicle created in partnership with the United States Department of Energy. This truck achieves 136% freight efficiency over the 2009 Kenworth T660, one of the most fuel-efficient trucks of its time. To achieve such a high increase in efficiency, Kenworth had to implement many new features, such as enclosed front tires, an engine with a mild hybrid system, and a reverse splayed chassis. Additionally, Kenworth created a new lightweight trailer that aerodynamically pairs with the trailer, helping create a combined 7,100lb weight reduction. However, what does this increased efficiency and weight reduction mean for MPG? Watch the video above to find out.
