Once in a great while, an author has the experience of reading something he or she had previously written, and discovers it anew, as if for the first time. When that happens, it feels like entering the wonderful territory wherein craft meets art, and vision merges with inspiration. It's like being touched by the muse. This recently happened to me. Jan and I are in the process of preparing my book, "Savannah: A Bicycle Journey Through Space and Time," for republication. The new incarnation will include not only an edited and extended paperback edition of the original work, but also a kindle and audio version. It was while recording the audio version that I discovered this excerpt that I wrote back in 2014. It jumped off the page in a way that describes exactly the situation in life I am currently experiencing. I call this piece, "The Dream: A Meditation on Life and Death." Set to the beautiful music of my collaborator and good friend Ajit Padmanabh, and lovingly crafted by the production design of Jan Willis, it conveys a message that is both poignant and uplifting. Please take just a few minutes of your day to put aside hectic activity, and settle in to contemplate this vision of permanence over immediacy, and eternity over time.
