About The Crowns:
Having started as a foursome originally, Malta based indie/pop rock band The Crowns have been rocking local festivals with their energetic live performances since 2010. Throughout the years, the band's original music has evolved and changed following changes in line up and musical tastes. Inspiration comes from a multitude of artists and genres including classic rock and modern pop.
The original members of the band are: Victorio Gauci (Lead Vocals), Gianluca Cappitta (Rhythm Guitar), Chris Ciantar (Bass Guitar) and Luke Vella Clark (Drums), who are still part of the band’s line-up. This formation is what led to the inception of the band’s first two singles which propelled the band into the local music charts as well as gaining airplay in the UK and Italy. While in the studio, the band identified the need for an additional member, leading to the recruitment of synth player, Jean-Paul Mollicone, who contributed heavily to the release of the band’s debut album, “Someone Else”.
Between the first and second album, Jean Paul had to step back from the band due to foreign commitments, which saw Giuseppe Pecci (Lead Guitar) join the band. This change led the band to restart work on their second album which released in 2019. Jean Paul re-united with the band in 2021, right before band started recording the first single following their 2019 album "Next in Line".
Throughout its years of music releases and gigging, the band has picked up a few awards which include:
• Best Newcomers at the Bay Music Awards (BMAs)
• Viewer's Choice Award at the BMAs
• Best Music Video at the Malta Short Film Festival
• Best Band at the BMAs
