People who are recognizing that they are running into their triggers, blocks and stuff in life, that's actually preventing them from moving forward in their relationships, changing their relationship patterns, feeling really, really stuck and anxious.

And I can honestly tell you that on my own personal journey, my own healing journey, that doing my inner child work and learning to reparent myself has been one of the biggest, most monumental, most transformative practices and processes I have ever engaged in.

So I want to walk you through just a little bit of what it might look like to reparent yourself and to heal your inner child in daily practice. So, one friend I was talking to recently, he was talking about how he was just kind of going along throughout his day. He was getting together with a friend. And then something happened. And it was really benign. It was actually something that didn't happen. It was that.

It was that he was interacting with someone or he was waving to somebody and that person didn't wave back to him, like didn't acknowledge him being there. And it was massively, massively triggering.

And then he had a friend later ask him like, so what came up for you and what were you feeling? And when from your childhood did you have that experience? And I hope it's OK that I'm sharing this with you. I didn't ask his permission, but I'm not revealing who he is either, so I hope that's OK.

Anyway, he immediately just started crying and breaking down in tears because he recognized that, yeah, this feeling that I've been carrying around as an adult where I'm feeling ignored or not seen or looked after, that comes from when I was really young.

So how do I go back and actually do the inner child work to heal that thing? So my the thing that I teach people mostly is to do a visualization where you go back, you can go back to yourself as a child in a particular circumstance or situation.

If there was something that happened, it was the way that your parent talk to you or a situation, this and that, or you can kind of make it an amalgam of things from your childhood.

But to get really deep in that feeling and to visualize yourself and see yourself in this vision as your young self, your child self, in that home or in that location, in that place, feeling exactly how it felt to be there and to feel that in your body and to feel that in your heart, whether there's sadness, anger, rejection, fear, disconnection, loss, whatever you're feeling as a child and needs and wants not being met.

And let yourself really feel that and let yourself feel yourself back in that place. And then in that same visualization, you call in yourself as you are now, you call in your adult self to walk in and step into that vision and to get down on the level of your young child self and look them in the eye or pick them up or take them by the hand and say, I am here now. I see you now.

You are not alone. What do you need? And you actually take that child and you remove them from the situation, the circumstances place this location and you and you take them somewhere safe. You take them to a beautiful landscape or a safe cabin in the woods or whatever it is. Wherever you want to take your child self, you remove them from that childhood circumstance. You take them into safety. You are there and you say, OK, what do you need?

And usually your child self responds with something really simple. I just need a hug.

Maybe they want to play or they want to color or they just want to be seen and you let your child feel all their feelings while you are there being present. That present loving parent showing up in the way you didn't have the adults showing up for you in your life, and it's there's no blame in any of that.

Every living human being has this that they need to heal. So it's just a matter of going and retrieving that young person and then bringing them back to yourself and then giving them the parenting and the love that they so wanted, they so needed. That you still want and you still need. And it's very, very healing on all levels.
