Renaissance Jig - Francis Cutting (c. 1550-1595)
I've been working on a few old baroque and renaissance pieces on my recent 5+7 Chapman Stick. Here is a piece from Easy Renaissance Pieces for Classical Guitar, compiled by Jerry Willard.
Francis Cutting (c.1550–1595) was an English lutenist and composer. This piece is simply titled "A Jig".
The mirrored 4ths tuning allows these guitar pieces to be played exactly as written. The approach I use here is to play the melody on the right hand and the rest of the guitar arrangement on the left. The extra top bass string in the 5+7 tuning is very helpful in this situation.
