First, Puma made the change. Then Nike. Now, New Balance has joined them in making the humane and smart business decision to stop sourcing massacred kangaroos to manufacture soccer cleats.

The news is not all good, however, While our Kangaroos Are Not Shoes campaign has made great progress, one major brand has yet to align its corporate values with those of its competitors and people in the United States, Australia, and across the world.

That outlying brand is Adidas. The company’s intransigence in the face of global calls to reform means that relief for the 1.5 million kangaroos killed each year for soccer shoes, as well as the hundreds of thousands of orphaned and killed joeys, remains elusive.

It is up to you and others like you—people who care about wildlife and the development of a more humane economy—to finish the job for Australia’s iconic marsupial.

That’s why we’re hosting a free online event, part of our Claudia Miller Ignite Series on Animal Welfare, and invite you to join us.

What is really happening to Australia’s kangaroos.

How even soccer professionals are moving away from kangaroo-sourced skins to synthetic materials.

The laws being proposed on the federal and state levels to protect kangaroos.

How Australians themselves feel about the exploitation of their wildlife.

What you can do to help make a difference and end the largest commercial slaughter of terrestrial wildlife on earth today.
