In this video, we will be introducing students to surds and irrational numbers. We'll start by defining what surds and irrational numbers are and how they differ from rational numbers. We'll also discuss the representation of surds in decimal and fractional form. We will also touch on the concept of irrational numbers, which are numbers that cannot be expressed as a ratio of two integers, and give examples of common irrational numbers such as pi and the square root of 2. We'll work through several example problems to help students understand the material. By the end of this video, students will have a solid understanding of surds and irrational numbers and be able to approach and solve problems confidently. This video is designed for the NSW Stage 5 Mathematics Course.
