Armed with just a kayak, some chicken tied to a string, and a trusty net, I set out to the springs to try my luck at crabbing. The method is simple but effective—slowly pull the crabs in when they grab the bait, then scoop them up before they let go. It’s a fun and relaxing way to spend time outdoors while enjoying nature in the heart of Florida.
Along the way, I camped out of my truck, explored the Ocala National Forest, and enjoyed the peaceful setting of Salt Springs. After catching enough blue crabs, I show how to clean and cook them for a delicious fresh crab meal right at the campsite.
