My cover of all along the watchtower, I use about 20 tracks in this video. I improvised small parts in place of vocals (as i cannot sing) but unfortunately could not find a backing track with just drums and bass. My favourite part starts at 2:00. I also did abit of improv at the end (my guitar chokes on the 19th fret E string so i try to avoid it).
Gear/Effects:
Fender 62 vintage reissue american stratocaster
Fender blues junior: used for all lead and wah tracks, preamp pushed all the way for a natural overdrive, used a good amount of reverb.
Marshall DSL 401: on the OD1 channel, used for the rythm. (i actually had more drive on the rythm than the solo, as marshalls retain alot more clarity when distorted)
Dunlop Crybaby Wah: for the wah parts
Boss DD3: used on the octave and wah parts in the 3rd solo, the ending solo, and the improv over the second vocal verse (where I had the tone knob switched off to achieve Eric Clapton's woman tone).
I also used a TS9 tubescreamer to boost the preamp on the wah and octave parts in the 3rd solo, however I decided against using it for the rest and just turned the preamp up instead.
Recorded using only an Ipod touch, edited with sony vegas movie studio 10 HD Platinum software.
