In the previous video introducing basic Godot engine concepts, we covered basic 2D nodes such as bodies (StaticBody, RigidBody, and CharacterBody), CollisionShapes, sprites, and meshes. That video ended with a challenge to use what was learned in 2D to create a 3D equivalent game.

As promised, this video introduces the corresponding topics, but as a 3D platformer base. Most of the 2D principles are the same, except that we also need to add a camera and environment lighting. This video shows various ways of adding the camera (statically and attached to the player). This video also shows how environment lighting and direct lighting (simulating the sun) can be used to light the 3D environment.

This video forms part of a series of videos on how to make video games using Godot. Future videos will cover 2D game development, 3D game development, and a variety of different genres and mechanics. This series will cover many important nodes in Godot and how they can be used to create 2D and 3D video games.
