After meeting at Paul Cooks Oxstalls Farm in Admington it was a morning of fox after fox after fox for the Warwickshire Hunt. Whilst hunting and holding up Rex and Gillian Harding’s Preston Bushes a fox made its escape from the wood in front of a foot sab but unseen by the hunt. Our sab quickly covered the foxes scent and the hounds that followed it out of the wood failed to detect its scent or where it had gone.
The hunt moved across the road and the hounds were soon on the scent of the second fox of the morning hunting along a brook on Mark Davies Land. The fox eventually made a run for it up towards the road and again crossed in front of sabs. Knowing that sabs had seen the fox the Whipper-In with help from sabs was forced to stop the hounds as they took the exact line taken by the fox.
Instead of leaving the area knowing that there was a fox present the Warwickshire Hunt continued to hunt along the brook and the hounds were soon off again across the road and briefly over to Bruton farm, also owned by Mark Davies before turning and crossing a second road and onto David and Donna Renney’s Land again briefly before they burst out of a hedge along with the whipper–in and across another road where they stopped at a barn where we believe the fox went to ground. Whilst all this was going on motorists were made to wait whilst the hunt used the road as their own personal playground. This is not the first time the Warwickshire Hunt have caused antisocial behavior on this particular road and it’s not the first time we have filmed their hounds chasing a fox from the brook. This was premeditated hunting and the results were predictable, a fox running from hounds, hounds all over the road and motorists having to wait.
Next surprise surprise the hounds went off in cry almost immediately upon arrival at Marchfront Brook. They carried on across Admington Land and carried on up the brook trespassing towards Hidcote. The arrival of the farmer, unhappy at his sheep being disturbed by the hounds, saw convicted criminal huntsman Will Goffe gather the hounds and head back towards the meet.
This is why hunt sabs are still needed. Multiple foxes running from hounds, hounds all over multiple roads, hunt and hounds trespassing on land they're not supposed to be on. The Warwickshire Hunt continue to demonstrate that “trail hunting” is a lie and that the sooner the Government delivers on its promise to tighten up the law the more lives will be saved
