The lyrics from this piece, save for the refrain, are, obviously, from Poe's poem, "Eldorado." This is one that I just recently chose to read, and as soon as I began, I started humming a tune to go with it. The darker vibe, the whole dark versus light theme going on, really piqued my interest, and as soon as I was able to, I sat down to put all of this together. It was extremely fun to do, as well - I've never really worked with a poem in this fashion before, but I definitely hope to do it again sometime, perhaps with something else from Poe.

Lyrics:
"Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.

But he grew old,
This knight so bold,
And o'er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.

Oh, oh,
The seasons will go
Through sun, wind, and snow,
For that city of ol'.

Oh, oh,
The caw of a crow,
And who else to know?
Eldorado.

And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow;
"Shadow," said he,
"Where can it be,
This land of Eldorado?"

"Over the mountains
Of the moon,
Down the valley of the shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied,--
"If you seek for Eldorado!"

Oh, oh,
The sun doesn't show,
The gold doesn't glow,
In that city of ol'.

Oh, oh,
The caw of a crow,
And who else to know?
Eldorado."
