2024.06.14 NOAA Temperature Manipulation
Every year, I collect temperature records from the government's website. With this data, I have created an Excel workbook to streamline my analysis. As an engineer, I believe data is crucial to understanding our world.
The U.S. Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) keeps three types of temperature records: raw, TOB, and FLs.52j. The raw data consists of unaltered readings from thermometers. The other two are NOAA's modified versions of this raw data.
In my video, I demonstrate how NOAA converts the "raw" data into the "FLs.52j" modified dataset.
