In this episode, we show a second application of procedural noise - creating geological rock layers. The shader imitates the appearance of geological rock strata and is projected on all of the rocks in world space. This technique allows artists to create a just a few rocks assets. They can then instance them, randomly rotate them, and combine them together to create an infinite variety of rock formations. The shader helps the formations to appear unified and cohesive, even though they're formed from multiple assets jammed together.
