3 Unique Sounds in Snow White
Disney studios was so scrappy in the 1930s 😂 They did an awful lot of pioneering and using what they had available to make Snow White happen.
All of this information comes from an original interview David Johnson conducted with Snow White soundman Bob Cook. A quick note about the organ sound… they use the word “glass” to specify what they blew across to create the antique sound, so that is what I stated here for sake of accuracy to the interview. But I think it’s more likely that they meant a glass bottle, not just a glass (like playing a jug).
As for the restroom recording, as a wife of 18yrs to an Irish musician who prefers to play tunes in the bathroom for the acoustics, it makes sense that they’d use a restroom for the echo. Apparently they tried all of the men’s restrooms in the building first, but none of them had the right sound.
