Ageism (or agism): One of the downsides of getting older is that people start to assume you're feeble and doddering. Those who mean well say things like, "Oh, you're [n] years YOUNG!" and if you're male, strange women call you "Honey" or "Sweetie" and categorize you as "a senior." But the bureaucratically inclined look at your birth date and assume you're no longer able to think clearly or move with alacrity. Or drive a car, fly an airplane. "Ninny on yer tintype!" I tell 'em. The only way to play the growing-up game is to keep on having more birthdays for the fun of it. The world longevity record is 122 years and 164 days. No sense in aiming low.
