Mass of the moon is 1/80 times that of the earth and corresponding radius is 1/4 times that of the earth. calculate escape velocity from the surface of moon.
The escape velocity is the minimum velocity required for and object to exit the gravitational pull of any celestial body.
In this videos we have solved this numerical using the escape velocity equation and then using the value of escape velocity from earth surface, the escape velocity from earth surface is nearly equal to 11.2km/s, after solving the numerical we find the escape velocity from surface of moon will be nearly equal to 2.51km/s.
you can also solve this numerical using the mass and radius of earth and then comparing that with that of moon and substituting the values in escape velocity equation underoot (2Gm/r) and solving you can get the same values.
